“SOLIDWORKS 2025: Revolutionizing Design with Smarter Tools and Enhanced Precision”

The release of SOLIDWORKS 2025 brings a wave of excitement for designers and engineers, introducing powerful features and improvements that promise to redefine how we approach 3D modeling and product development. Innovation never stops, and neither does SOLIDWORKS. With the release of SOLIDWORKS 2025, the design world is abuzz with excitement about the groundbreaking features and enhancements that aim to redefine how we approach 3D modeling and engineering.

In this blog, we’ll dive into the key updates, explore how they can transform your projects, and provide insights into why SOLIDWORKS 2025 might be the most powerful version yet.

Z-UP TEMPLATES:
Ever felt the urge to have the part orientation done right in the first place, well till date we have always had only Y-up Template orientation selection for the default templates. But no more adjustments in the part and assembly files whenever you’re working with them as the Z-up Template selection can be set to Default. This will help orient your parts & assemblies for the manufacturability concerns of any other downstream applications.

Performance Evaluation:
The Performance Evaluation tool now shows us something new that why our assemblies are getting slower from the presence of Previous Version file references in SOLIDWORKS that shows all the files which may not have been saved to the recent version of SOLIDWORKS thus reducing the degraded performance while working with older version files in SOLIDWORKS.

With SOLIDWORKS 2025, the Performance Evaluation tool also gives us the Graphic Triangle count, thereby making it easier to analyze the Assembly components or the Part level Features which may have higher graphical count thus making it easier to manage it.

Display State Table
SOLIDWORKS 2025 now helps us to work along with multiple display states that may be set up with Assemblies by giving us the Display State Table. It basically compiles the complete display state information for each assembly-level component. This table mainly makes it easier to manage the display state of those components by simply toggling on/off the respective display states with a dedicated column for it. This allows for visualizing the changes in real time in the background.

Fillet Weld Bead:
SOLIDWORKS 2025 helps us to add a custom Groove bead as we go on to select the respective faces in the Part & Assembly levels thus helping us get the Weld bead created easily. SOLIDWORKS® creates a solid body in the gap based on the surfaces.

Copy Cut List items:
Working with Sheet Metal & Weldment Cutlist seems tedious when we have multiple cutlist properties to be copied to other sheet items. SOLIDWORKS 2025 brings you the option to manage such cutlist items. With SOLIDWORKS 2025 we have the option to copy cutlist properties to cut list items option or even to certain cut list items. This makes the work easier to do.

Bend Notches:

One of the standout enhancements in SOLIDWORKS 2025 is the ability to create notches across bends in flattened sheet metal parts. This game-changing feature is designed with manufacturing efficiency in mind.

Bend notches play a crucial role in sheet metal fabrication, helping manufacturers pinpoint where to position the press brake accurately. With SOLIDWORKS 2025, you can now seamlessly add notch features to all bends, simplifying the bending process for operators. These notches act as visual and functional guides, enabling precise alignment with the tooling, reducing errors, and speeding up production times.

Export Views as Blocks:
Challenge is working with interoperability in SOLIDWORKS drawings and with .dwg files in 2D environment which may be in our very own DraftSight application or be it any legacy CAD application.

Often when opening drawings and 2D CAD programs, the first thing users would have to do is select all the individual entities for each view to generate blocks, to leverage them more easily. This new option to export drawing views as blocks helps make it easier to edit drawings in 2D CAD programs like DraftSight for example.

This new option eliminates that step for users, making it much easier and smoother to go from your SOLIDWORKS drawings to DXF and DWG. And that’s what’s new for drawings in SOLIDWORKS 2025.

Converting Mesh BREP to Standard BREP:
Convert Mesh BREP to Standard is a command which could help convert mesh BREP(Body Representation) faces to standard BREP faces. SOLIDWORKS 2025 brings powerful improvements to working with mesh BREP and hybrid mesh bodies, particularly those with recognized geometry. This feature is a major step forward for designers and engineers dealing with complex mesh data.

The enhanced functionality excels with meshes that have well-defined planar, cylindrical, conical, and spherical geometry, ensuring greater accuracy and usability. It’s especially effective when working with clean meshes that lack significant noise, enabling smoother transitions between mesh and solid modeling workflows.

Repair Dangling Relations & Dimensions:
One of the most frustrating challenges in CAD design is dealing with dangling relations and dimensions—those broken links that occur when a referenced geometry is changed or deleted. SOLIDWORKS 2025 addresses this issue head-on with a new and improved tool for repairing dangling relations and dimensions.

This functionality allows you to quickly identify and fix broken references in sketches, assemblies, or drawings. With intelligent suggestions and streamlined workflows, you can now reassign dangling dimensions or relations to new references effortlessly, saving time and ensuring design accuracy.

Patterning Reference Geometry:
Patterning in SOLIDWORKS just got a major upgrade with the ability to incorporate reference geometry into your patterns. This new functionality in SOLIDWORKS 2025 opens up more design possibilities by allowing you to create patterns based on planes, axes, coordinate systems, and other reference geometries.

By leveraging reference geometry, you can achieve more complex and accurate patterns, especially in cases where traditional linear or circular patterns fall short. This feature is particularly useful in designs that require precise alignment or unconventional spacing.

Elevate your Design Experience with SOLIDWORKS 2025!
SOLIDWORKS 2025 introduces a host of enhancements that streamline workflows and empower users to tackle design challenges with ease. With features like bend notches for sheet metal, improved mesh handling, tools to repair dangling relations, and the ability to pattern using reference geometry, this release offers practical solutions for everyday design needs.

These updates not only enhance efficiency but also provide greater flexibility and precision, making SOLIDWORKS 2025 an indispensable tool for modern designers and engineers. Explore these new capabilities to take your projects to the next level and stay ahead in the dynamic world of 3D design.
